As is a proud tradition here at Blind Appeal, it is yet again March and that means we are teaming up with Boise Rescue Mission Ministries in their March To End Hunger campaign. We love helping out our fellow Idahoans and love working with the great folks down at the Rescue Mission. Here are some details on exactly what March To End Hunger is and how you can help.
What Is the March To End Hunger Campaign?
The March To End Hunger Campaign is an annual food drive that encourages local businesses to hold food drives during the month of March. These drives can be open to both employees and non-employees which includes customers, clients, and family members. It starts March 1st and goes through March 31st. To put a nice button on the month-long drive, it wraps up the month with a “Can Castle Competition”. Here’s more info from the Rescue Mission website regarding the Can Castle Competition:
While not a requirement, anyone who has hosted a food drive can choose to build a "castle" out of the items they have collected and enter it into the competition for the coveted Golden Can trophy. Everyone is encouraged to tackle the challenge as creatively as they like. Can Castle photos must be submitted by midnight on March 31st, and voting will take place on Facebook from April 1st to April 5th. Are Just Food Donations Welcome, Or Can You Donate Other Items For March To End Hunger?
All non-perishable food and other necessities are welcome as donations during this event. Please feel free to donate anything you wish as long as it is shelf stable and is a household necessity. We are currently looking for things like diapers (sizes 4, 5, and 6), baby wipes, dryer sheets, men’s underwear, cold medicine, toilet paper, and much much more!
