Frank started the Blind Appeal business over fourteen years ago in the Treasure Valley. His desire was to build a family business through helping people with their window covering needs. He brought with him over thirty years of sales experience and customer service, which have helped him make Blind Appeal into a thriving business in the Treasure Valley and Beyond. He truly enjoys the family aspect, and has now been joined in the business by his wife, his son, a sister, brother-in-law, and two nephews.
Mike Van Artsdalen is the Director of Operations, as well as a sales associate for Blind Appeal. His job encompasses all aspects of the Blind Appeal business, ensuring that all customers, business contacts, and employees are well taken care of. His degrees in Art Education and Visual Art make him perfect for our team as he has a history of working great with people, has an eye for aesthetics – in particular colors and products that look good in homes and businesses alike. His enthusiasm and energy, as well as his knowledge of the Boise community make him an excellent addition to the team. In Mike's free time he likes "chillin" with his wife and three children; snowboarding, wakeboarding, camping, and "being creative with home projects."
As Warehouse Manager, Sean is the customer contact for all installations. His organizational skills are welcome at Blind Appeal, and he joined the family business early on in its inception, bringing with him several years of sales experience. Sean has another full-time job – that of being a father to his five children (3 boys and 2 girls). When he is not working he loves golf, and the Los Angeles Dodgers. His favorite spot in Idaho is McCall.
Denise works as the Marketing Manager for Blind Appeal. She produces all flyers, brochures and pamphlets for the business and also takes care of social media, including Instagram, Facebook, Website, HOUZZ, and Reviews. Denise also represents the face of the company to several outside organizations. Outside of work Denise enjoys long hikes and walks and playing pickle ball. She and her husband Thom keep busy with their 8 grandchildren (Denise enjoys baking specialized cakes for each of their birthdays). Denise relaxes by playing the piano and reading.
Wendy has been a part of Blind Appeal since its inception over thirteen years ago. Wendy has been in the customer service industry for years, and has a well-established history of “knowing what the customer needs and wants.” She coordinates sales development throughout the Treasure Valley, and enjoys establishing new contacts, always striving to bring the Blind Appeal concept to all those with whom she comes in contact. Outside of work, Wendy enjoys spending time with her five grandchildren, hiking and evening walks with her husband Frank, and she is an avid pilate enthusiast.
Samantha (Sam) is the newest family member to join Blind Appeal. Born and raised in the Treasure Valley, Sam has a wealth of knowledge of the area which is an asset to our Team as she interacts with our customers (present and future). Sam is an alumna from Boise State University and does her best to serve the community in any way possible. First and foremost, Sam prides herself in being a homemaker. She enjoys cooking and baking for her husband Sean, and their 5 children. When she does have spare time, she loves gardening, volunteering at her children’s school, going on adventures and watching sports with her family. She is also an avid bowler and has been on numerous bowling leagues for the past 15 years. We welcome Sam as we know she is an asset to our team!
Chris joined Blind Appeal with six years of sales and customer service experience. Chris loves meeting new people. He says that "the best part of what I do is simply getting to know people." Chris is married, and his hobbies include snowboarding, mountain biking, camping, hiking, climbing, He also recently picked up golf. Chris enjoys doing all these things in "this great state of Idaho!".
Tom joined Blind Appeal as our commercial business manager. He bids and manages all our commercial blind jobs in the Treasure Valley. Tom brings with him a wealth of experience, including 27 years in all aspects of window coverings, such as installing, estimating, and sales. Tom was raised in Idaho and loves the beautiful outdoors -- in particular, the camping, fishing and golf. Family is a high priority for Tom. He has two grown children, and loves spending time with his granddaughter. In addition, he is a huge BSU Football and Basketball fan, as well as a fan of the Boise Hawks.
Ryan is one of our sales associates. Prior to joining Blind Appeal, he worked in the wholesale fencing industry as a regional manager for over seven years. His experience in customer service, sales, and management is a tremendous asset to our company. Ryan is the 7th family member to join the Blind Appeal Team. Outside of work, Ryan enjoys family time with his wife and two children. Ryan and Lana often work out together at the local gym, enjoy camping, hiking, and are avid sports fans (football, baseball, basketball).
Nichole is one of our five sales associates. Prior to joining Blind Appeal, Nichole worked in customer relations and large account sales. Nichole is a “people” person, and as such enjoys interacting with our customers on a daily basis. She enjoys assisting people with window fashions, as she is keenly interested in colors, fabrics, and overall aesthetics of the home. Outside of work, Nichole loves all things outdoors including hunting, fishing, camping and dirt bike riding. Nichole has 3 "awesome" kids, the oldest curently serving in the United States Military.
Wes joined Blind Appeal as a sales associate after several years of teaching in a local high school. He holds a Bachelor of Education Degree in PE, and a Master's Degree in Education Innovation and Technology. Wes has been a friend of the Blind Appeal family for over 10 years, and we are excited to have him as part of the Team. Wes worked for Les Schwab for 11 years prior to becoming a teacher, is married, and has one daughter. In his spare time, he enjoys tennis, golf, and baseball.
John has been with Blind Appeal for approximately five years. He is the lead installer for the Blind Appeal team. He is an expert in not only interior and exterior installs, but in customer service, repairs, and knowledge of window covering functions, including motorized, manual and specialty blinds. He enjoys spending time with his family (has two adorable boys!).
Skyler Jackson has worked with Blind Appeal for several years as an installer. Prior to coming to Blind Appeal Skyler worked with his family business, Jacksons Shade Company for over 12 years. With over 16 years of installation and window covering experience (including expertise in exterior and motorized), we are thrilled to have Skyler as a team member. Outside of work Skyler enjoys snowmobiling and motorcycling in his spare time.
Dustin is on our Blind Appeal Installer Team. He is an Idaho native, and loves spending time golfing and with motocross, but especially with his wife and three sons. He has known one of our Blind Appeal family members for over ten years; as well as worked with him at Les Schwab where Dustin did sales and service for 19 years. Dustin is an awesome addition to our Installation and warehouse team as he has had so much experience in sales and in public service.
Jeff Davis joined Blind Appeal with prior experience in many fields including installation and management, which has made him a great addition to the team. Jeff is a tremendous asset in the warehouse, assisting the warehouse manager; and he also handles all of the local Costco members' paperwork and scheduling for those who purchase window coverings through the local Costco warehouses. He is from the Boise area where his job experience included managing Edwards 12 theater, and working at Midstar Firearms with his father. Jeff served in the Army as a combat medic for four years, stationed at Fort Carson in Colorado, and then deployed to Qatar for a year. He enjoys hunting, fishing and topiary. His prime goal is a noble one: “the acquisition of wisdom,” and loves learning all new things.
Javier came to the Boise area in 2004. He loves the outdoors and is very active with his two children, Grayson and Bentley. He and his lovely wife Shannon keep busy exploring the numerous area parks on the weekends with their boys. Javier came to us highly recommended and his previous experience working at Les Schwab has given him great people and interactive skills.
Brian is an installer with Blind Appeal, joining our amazing installing team of five. He comes to us with 6 years of experience in installing – both hanging doors, and installing barn doors. Because of his experience, he has a definite eye for detail and great customer service. Outside of work, Brian enjoys time with his wife and daughter, including grilling and camping.
Brendan is on the installation team at Blind Appeal. He comes to us with years of experience in construction, including framing, remodeling, demolition, drywall, insulation, and roofing, to name just a few. His experience makes him a true asset on the Blind Appeal Team. Among his many talents, he is an artist, and an avid video gamer (having played Smash Bros competitively). He loves listening to rock/metal and especially enjoys going to live concerts. He loves spending time with his wife and four children (2 sons and 2 daughters). He also enjoys trying new burger joints, relaxing outdoors, camping, hiking, and visiting natural landmarks and new places.
Katy is the Blind Appeal Office Manager, and oversees all office matters, including the other three office personnel. She came to us with 17 years of customer service experience, six of those years in restaurant management, and nine of those years in office administration. Katy has worked with and been friends with the Blind Appeal owners for over 15 years. Katy is married and has one very adorable little girl. Katy enjoys learning new things and has not only a great attention to details, but is incredibly quick and efficient – of which both are a tremendous asset to Blind Appeal.
Brooke Rooker is one of our two Administrative Assistants for the Blind Appeal Team. Brooke has an education degree in Elementary Education and taught school for six years. She also has had 14 years of restaurant experience, as a baker, trainer, and manager. In addition to her communication and public relation skills, she enjoys time with her family (3 daughters and one new black lab puppy!). She is also a pianist and has taught music for 9 years. With Brooke's many skills, we are excited tohave her on our Team.
Mandy Bell is one of our administrative assistants at Blind Appeal. She comes to us with extensive experience in customer service, having worked in the medical field for eighteen years – seven of those years as an office manager. She excels at problem solving and loves to take on challenges. In addition to these attributes, Mandy is a people person and enjoys every aspect of customer care. Mandy loves spending time with her family – especially camping and outdoor activities. Mandy fits right in with the entire Blind Appeal Team.
Thom is the Service Specialist for Blind Appeal. He joined Blind Appeal in 2018, after his retirement from over 35 years in the Criminal Justice Field in both California and Oregon. Thom’s years of service helping others will be a great asset to our team. He joins his wife and two sons on the Blind Appeal team. Thom enjoys fishing, hiking, camping, and pickle ball. He and his wife Denise recently celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary and enjoy traveling and enjoy spending time with their 8 grandchildren.
Melanie joined the Blind Appeal staff as our Business Development Manager – Costco. She has known Frank and Wendy (Blind Appeal owners) for over 10 years, having first met Wendy at The Cheesecake Factory where they both worked. Melanie was a personal chef in California for ten years (Classic French Training), before relocating to Boise. She was a Chef for Cheesecake Factory for eight years, and then moved into six years of management there. Melanie shines in the area of customer service, people skills, and business relations. Melanie says that, “by heart I am a foodie,” and “loves tasting new and intricate food,” pulling her husband right along with her in these food adventures. She has two “amazing” daughters and her husband and her enjoy all outdoor activities that Idaho has to offer.
