After all, October is National Window Covering Safety Month. Here are some valuable safety tips that you can start doing today in your home.
Switch to Cordless Coverings (Especially in Children’s Rooms)
Ideally, we recommend moving away from corded blinds and window coverings entirely and switch to a safer model like the classic roller or solar shades or cellular shades with the cordless or motorized options. Decorate for Safety
Make sure all kids’ bedrooms are decorated and arranged in a safe way. Keep beds and especially cribs away from windows and blinds. Try to minimize any window coverings with cords in their rooms if at all possible. While your crib is away from the window, also make sure that there are no lamps or other heavy and potentially “tipable” items close to the crib.
Many bedroom layouts include table lamps and bedside lamps. Be aware of where their cords are and how easily they are accessible to a curious toddler in their crib. If they are close enough, they may tug on it and bring the lamp down on their head and cause potential injuries and risk electrical shock as well.
